Because we’re experienced in both design and manufacturing, we can analyze your drawings to spot potential problems. By applying innovative engineering principles, we’re often able to improve the way your part runs. This translates to spending less on parts by minimizing the amount of plastic needed or creating stronger more durable parts. Part of the benefit of working with Lee’s Plastics is that we are always trying to deliver on quality. Our team of designers has more than 100 years of combined experience working in the plastics manufacturing industry. With all of this experience, we have become very adept at helping both new designs and old designs optimize for efficiency.
We specialize in complex moldings where dimensional stability is critical. We work with you from concept through design and production.
Plastic Part Manufacturing Engineering Services
Whether you are prototyping or have been using the same design for decades, there is often room for improvement. The team at Lee’s Plastics Inc. can help companies get the most out of their molds, tooling, and plastic parts.
Part / Mold design recommendation
When we look at a new part, we have to consider what will make mass production as efficient as possible. Both time and money need to be optimized to ensure that we meet your delivery schedule and budget. Whether we are working with existing designs or need to design new molds, we always work to optimize designs for mass production. We build durable molds that can consistently create plastic parts at the same level of quality over a long period of time. To do this, we work with both part and mold design to improve overall production.
Solid Modeling capabilities
Our designers work with solid modeling to create 3-dimensional digital designs of parts, molds, and other tools. These designs allow us to find imperfections that can be improved, and perform digital stress tests to locate areas where the mold or part that need more work. Solid modeling allows us to pre-emptively test important factors for machining and injection molding before we produce a new piece.
Material selection advice
When mass producing plastic parts, material matters. Upgrading to stronger and more durable plastics means that your plastic part can withstand more pressure and your overall product can be higher rated for longterm use. Depending on product specifications, budget, overhead, and other factors, we are able to work with companies to optimize the materials we use when producing parts.
Tooling specifications
Our molds and tooling are designed to optimize plastic manufacturing. With all of the equipment at our disposal, we are able to create unique molds and tooling for plastic manufacturing. We design bases, pins, lifters, bushings, alignment devices, and guides to make mass-producing plastic pieces efficient.
Interpretation of CAE analyses
One of the most helpful tools at our disposal is the software that gives us our CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) capabilities. We utilize mold flow analysis software to test mold designs. These computer programs allow us to save time and parts when working on new tooling designs and can help us improve our recommendations for your plastic parts. Optimizing plastic molds both saves money and can improve the durability and other facets of a plastic part, making it more valuable to the consumer.
